Instead of completely starting again, we slowly updated the bits that weren’t really working — a huge shower instead of the bath, softer whites, more coastal shiplap, scalloped marble, a new window and lots of smaller details that made it feel warmer and more us.
We actually kept loads too — the old washstand, mirror, lights, taps, shower, towel rail and floor tiles all stayed šŸ¤

This photo is taken from the bathtub in my bedroom (šŸ˜‚) with St Michael’s Mount in the background. I feel like she’s happy being able to see the sea! I thought about lining the sails but I’m so glad I didn’t, I love how the light comes through.

A tiny ensuite… just 165 x 145 with sloping ceili A tiny ensuite… just 165 x 145 with sloping ceilings thrown in! The layout more or less designed itself. The shower sits where the ceiling is highest, and there was only room for the loo and basin to be opposite each other.
I kept the palette soft and layered in texture — tiles, marble, wood, brass — which gives the space warmth and depth.
If you’re working with a small or awkward room, this is your reminder that it can still feel really lovely and elevated with the right layout and materials šŸ¤

I went for pale textured tiles, penny marble on the floor, brushed brass fittings and a simple rectangular sink that’s actually surprisingly practical.
The style is what I’d call Scandi country, soft colours, clean lines and lots of texture.
