These three gorgeous Christmas Tree Themes will take the guess work out of trying to dress your Christmas tree this year.
Of course, you may want to decorate your tree with existing Christmas tree decorations and we have at least one tree at home which is a bit more whimsical and haphazard and definitely without a Christmas Tree theme! Sometimes though, it’s lovely to have a more cohesive look to your decorating and at least one of these three Christmas Tree Themes will work with most interior decorating styles.
There are links to all the Christmas decorations and the Christmas trees themselves under each of the three themes. However, don’t feel the need to buy all new Christmas decor – you can probably use some that you already have. The tips given for each them will give you an idea of the kinds of Christmas decorations to use to create each theme.
This post shows three Christmas Tree Themes: Warm Spice Christmas, Merry and Maximalist and Snowy Scandi Simplicity.
warm spice christmas
Warm Spice Christmas brings Autumnal coloured baubles together with vintage inspired Gold Mercury. Add in Gingerbread Houses, Paper Trees in these beautiful earth tones and Gold Wired Berry Garland Lights.

Tip for this Christmas Tree Theme: Try to keep everything tonally similar but use different textures (shiny metal, warm wood, pleated paper etc)

Love this snowy Christmas 7 foot tree which is pre-lit and has amazing reviews
Wicker Tree Skirt in this lovely walnut brown colour sets the warm tone
The Brass Metal Bow steals the show!
Honeycomb Paper Trees in Spice Colours are only £2.95 each
Set of 6 Honeycomb Hanging Paper Trees in green with champagne edging for a bit of sparkle.
Beautiful Green Glass Baubles are sold in a set of 3 (also in a lovely Amber colour)
Freestanding adorable handmade Gingerbread Houses or a set of 4 hanging Gingerbread Houses
Woodland Berries LED String Lights in a 2m length
The little wooden trees are an absolute bargain so buy a few for impact!
So many glass baubles made from mercury glass are silver, so I was so happy to find this Set of 6 Mercury Glass Lantern Baubles in Gold in this lovely vintage shape.
They have lots of colours! I also love them in Mulberry and Champagne here.
Loving these Cinnamon Stripe Baubles here which come in a set of 3.
merry and maximalist!
This look makes a grand statement with a big focus on layering and more layering! Lots of garland and ribbons tied to the branches, dried oranges, colourful baubles and sentimental ornaments.

Tip for this Christmas Tree Theme: More is definitely more! Use lots of colour but stick to similar tones and avoid it looking chaotic with repeated elements – add lots of bead garland, orange slices and ribbon bows.

Traditional Victorian Pine Pre-lit Christmas Tree with lots of branches for decorating!
Hammered Brass Christmas Tree Skirt reflects both Christmas Lights and Firelight.
A lovely holiday activity is drying Orange Slices in the oven, worth it for the scent alone! Have a look at how I dried mine using the Airfryer! You can then add lovely little brass hooks to them. I bought mine from Amazon here. If you are pressed for time, you can of course buy Orange Slices which have been already dried.
I also love these beautifully embroidered Orange Slice Decorations.
Gold Nutcracker Articulated Figures add the whimsy!
The Mince Pie Decorations remind me of Christmas baking with my Mum as a child, and cutting out little shapes like this for the top. They are probably my favourite Christmas decoration of all time! I also love these which have a bit more sparkle!
I’m loving these Heritage Onion Cotton Mache Baubles too.
Dark Wood Bead Garlands are quite hard to find – these add a traditional look. They do have tassels on the ends which you can leave but I would probably cut them off, they are a good price in any case.
You can buy pre-made Velvet Ribbon Bows (see this Blog post!) These lush Red Velvet Bows would look lovely. A cheaper option is to just tie velvet ribbon on the ends of branches, I love the Wine Red Ribbon pictured which also comes in a lovely Green Option.
The Nutcracker Cloche is the perfect maximalist decoration!
Embellished hanging Star Decorations with gold and pearl beadwork.
Gorgeous Glass Bell with velvet ribbon and glitter.
The sweetest hanging F&M mini hamper.
Darling Christmas Carousel Ornament.
Green Marbled Glass Baubles would look amazing on this maximalist tree!
snowy scandi simplicity
Inspired by a Swedish Christmas! Keep it simple with natural materials, clip-on candles, stars and white baubles on a looser branched more minimal tree.

Tip for this Christmas Tree Theme: I love the look of solely white and wood decorations but the addition of red does add a fun element to this tree!
The Symons Nordmann Fir Christmas Tree is pre-lit (because why wouldn’t you?!) and has that chunky branched and freshly chopped from the snowy fields feel to it!
The White Rattan Tree Skirt also comes in a lovely grey rattan which I think would also work well for this minimalist look.

A Rattan Tree Topper is a lovely way of setting the naturalistic tone of this look.
Stoneware neutral baubles with natural string loops are very simple – love the crackle glaze!
Glittery pine cones in either silver or also lovely in the natural colourway with a bit of sparkle.
This Whitewashed Rattan Braided Tree Skirt handily comes apart for storage and is another great option.
Possibly the cutest Christmas Tree Skirt ever is this ruffle bordered burlap one (shown in photo)!
Light Mango Wood Bead Garland (you may need a couple)
The Winter Frost Hanging Houses come in a set of 4 and have a touch of shimmer around their gutters!
Made from sustainably sourced wood, I love these Christmas stars – the perfect simple decoration for a Scandi Christmas Tree.
Christmas Tree Candles are a lovely way of lighting your tree! This is a set of 10 with a remote control option.
